Your scan data will include:
Bone Mineral Density - overall and by bodily region (note: this is not a diagnostic bone scan; it is not used to diagnose osteopenia / osteoporosis)
Lean Mass - total and by bodily region, as well as left vs. right side differential
Muscle Indices - Lean Mass Index (LMI), Relative Skeletal Muscle Index (RSMI) also known as Appendicular Lean Mass Index (ALMI)
Body Fat - total mass, % of total mass, % of total tissue, body fat mass and body fat % for android region vs. gynoid region
Visceral Adipose Tissue (VAT) - by mass and volume
Android / Gynoid Ratio - fat % in the android region, fat % in the gynoid region, and the ratio of these two measures
Resting Metabolic Rate -estimated caloric burn at rest
On key metrics such as RSMI, LMI, BMD, and VAT, we show you where your result falls relative to a reference population based on your age and sex.
We review your results with you in person immediately following your scan, and we provide detailed reporting later the same day. -
We recommend getting the scan every 3-6 months to monitor progress against your goals. The DEXA Scan’s high level of precision allows you to track changes with confidence.

Avoid an intense workout, excessive sweating, or consuming a large meal or a lot of liquid prior to your scan.

The scan involves very little radiation, approximately 0.02 millisieverts (mSV) per scan, less than that of a typical flight across the US.
-
No, this is non-diagnostic. It provides an indication of overall bone density, but is not able to determine a diagnosis of osteoporosis or osteopenia, which requires a different type of assessment.
